Deb is excited to join the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust’s Health Works team and is very much looking forward to supporting participants on their journey to employment.
Deb has a background in several sectors including higher education, financial services and publishing and will draw on her extensive experience including recruiting, developing and mentoring team members, advising business school applicants and supporting partner institutions in their recruitment efforts to provide guidance on everything from application writing to interviewing to identifying transferable skills.
That’s not all though: Deb is also in fact one of our very own success stories. At the beginning of 2021 Deb lost her job due to the pandemic and was mortified when people kept referring to her ‘early retirement’. Despite not having any background in the healthcare sector, Deb was attracted by the idea of working for the NHS and thought that the NHS might be the sort of organisation that values people whatever their background, age, ethnicity etc. She joined one of our open days, was accepted onto the programme and started her journey of discovery about opportunities in the NHS.
“I had fantastic support from the Health Works team at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The 3-day virtual programme which explored different roles within health and care and guided us through the NHS application process was extremely useful and the team were also able to connect me to colleagues in areas I wanted to explore further. The personalised one-on-one support I received helped me regain my confidence to start applying for roles and… well….here I am now in a position to help others!”
“As a mid-life career changer I look forward to sharing my direct and very recent experience of starting again, helping you discover the opportunities that the NHS has to offer and navigating the NHS recruitment process.”
